2005 Wrap Up

I don't know about you, but this has been a great year for music in my opinion. Of course, there are also a few bands that I'm just not buying into. Here's my summary of the best and... not worst... most overrated, I guess... of 2005. Happy Holidays!

TOP 10:
10. Gogol Bordello, Gypsy Punks
9. Metric, Live It Out
8. Gorillaz, Demon Days: If you don't think "Feel Good, Inc." was the most danceable song of the year, you were wearing lead shoes...
7. Diamond Nights, Popsicle
6. The White Stripes, Get Behind Me Satan: admittedly, I wasn't so enthused the first listen through, but the more I heard it, the more I realized its brilliance
5. Queens of the Stone Age, Lullabies to Paralyze
4. Living Things, Ahead of the Lions: ROCK!
3. Art Brut, Bang Bang Rock & Roll: easily the best live show I saw all year.
2. Beck, Guero
1. The Prix, The Prix: unsigned at the time of listing, these are four cuties who rock the house. Rowdy, sloppy, and loud - just the way I like it!

Most Overrated:
(in no particular order)

Giant Drag (talk about truth in advertising!), Hearts and Unicorns: some say Annie's sense of humor is an acquired taste. I say if it existed at all, I'd entertain the possibility learning to like it. But more importantly, I never did love Juliana Hatfield all that much.

She Wants Revenge, She Wants Revenge: They're not Interpol, they're not Elefant, and they're most definitely not Joy Division. What they are is completely derivative. And uninteresting. They do have the cool name going for them, though.

M.I.A., Aurular: Throw this one wherever you keep Snow and Sean Paul... if you really kept those ones.
