The things guys say when they're drunk...

"Yeah, baby. Of course I love you."

"I was going how fast?"

"The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world."

sheesh...

and this one was caught on video:

Alternatives

The L.A. Alternative has made quite a name for itself in the last year. A cooler, updated look, improved writing, greater visibility. And they're throwing monthly shows with great bands now, too. Last night was July's event. The night featured Totally Radd!, Darker My Love, and the newest incarnation of Midnight Movies. That's right - they replaced Jason, and Gina has come out from behind the drum kit (for the most part) making the former three-piece a quartet. Their new drummer, another female, is Stevie's new local favorite. I think it helped that she had sparkly Ludwigs. And don't cry for Jason; he was there to support his friends (yes, they're still friendly) and I got the 411 on the new band he's formed. They haven't settled on a name yet, but you can expect more rock and a big unveiling very soon. The party went down at the way too hot (put in a ceiling fan, please!) yet super-cool Little Radio warehouse, where there was plenty of Jameson on hand for Stevie. Well, almost. I think his last drink of the night was actually Cutty Sark (ew...) cuz they ran out. And the highlight for me? Possibly a job - freelance, of course - shooting the fall web update for a cool store called Apartment 3. Sweet!

Speaking of photo shoots, check out my recent web update with new shots of The Vacation, Phantom Planet, and more for American Rag and Filter.

Warped Tour '06

This summer marks my good friend Jaime's last outing with the Warped Tour. This year, in the role of accountant, she's tolerating (barely) the insane heatwaves that have swept the country from the comfort (ahem...) of a tour bus. Yech! It's exciting as hell, I'm sure, but not a position I envy. And for completely selfish reasons I can't wait until it's over and I get to hang with my Larchmont Pizza obsessed friend again.

Of course, there's always the mid-summer L.A. Warped date, which gives us the opportunity to catch up and exchange hugs. And see some rock? Theoretically, I suppose. I kinda' missed the shows. It didn't help that it was a weekday and I had to spend the better part of the afternoon chasing down The Roots and finding photographers in Toronto (I would kill for a shoot in L.A. these days). But I finally managed to head over to Dodger Stadium around 5pm, Larchmont Pizza in hand. With my delivery mission as top priority I went straight to the tour buses to find Jaime's office. After that we got talking, I caught up with a few other girls I know on the tour, and Jaime showed off her new MacBook with a crazy, warpy photo booth. We were laughing so hard at our bug eyes and pinched faces that I completely missed Joan Jett's set. Instead we settled for the entertainment of some old, uncoordinated go-go dancers in the catering tent.
