Shameless Gossip: SXSW Woes?

So it's well into February and the coordinators of SXSW have yet to announce a comprehensive lineup of the festival's performers. Anyone else wondering why? Cuz we sure are. Perhaps they aren't getting as many big and exciting acts as they have in years past due to Coachella's addition of a full-day and the quickness which which they booked their shows? Perhaps labels and bands can't afford for many of their exciting up-and-comers to attend both and they've chosen the weekend in the desert over Rock n Roll Spring Break in Austin? Rumors abound (and we're spreading them) that SXSW is trying to sell as many of their badges at the higher price point before the lineup is announced and sales slow from disappoitment. Anyone care to speculate with us?

Shameless Alert: SXSW Here We Come

Although the "Official" 2007 SXSW list of performers is yet to be released many of us did recieve an email earlier this month directly from the SXSW organizers announcing the following acts as confirmed

The Stooges
Interpol
Lily Allen
Bloc Party
Devin The Dude
Hoodoo Gurus
Matt & Kim
Ghostland Observatory
The Watson Twins
Stax 50th Anniversary Soul Review
Ozomatli
Turbonegro
Cold War Kids


However, after much research and deliberation the Austinist compiled their own list of performers who will very likely be gracing a SXSW stage in Austin this year. Their list includes Morrissey, Amy Millan (of Canadian indie-group Stars fame), Badly Drawn Boy, Castanets, The Frames, The Walkmen, and Thunderbirds Are Now, among many others. They go as far as to declare 95% accuracy.
